Review Lifting Plans and supervision at train track construction

In the Rotterdam port area in the Netherlands, a railway line for freight transport had to be relocated. The new train track is called Theemswegtracé and is 4 kilometers long. The construction of the Theemsweg route required modifications to roads, rail, cables and pipelines.

One of the modifications concerned the construction of a viaduct over a petrochemical industrial site. For this project, Eager.one was contracted for 3rd party review of the lifting plans for the lifting of the bridge girders. Also, during the project execution, our engineer was on-site for supervision.

For the construction of the viaduct, bridge girders of 140 tons and 35 meters long were used. The girders had to be lifted by two cranes in a tandem lift.

Third Party Review Lifting Plans

Our experienced lifting specialist was involved in the engineering phase of the lifting project. As an independent expert, he was responsible for third party review of the lifting plans. These types of third party reviews are often done in critical lifting projects on petrochemical locations, to secure safety and reduce planning risks.

During the execution of the lifting project, our lifting specialist was on-site responsible for the supervision of the lifting work. In this role he acted as a lifting focal point between the lifting contractor, main contractor and petrochemical client. Next to that, he performed inspections of the setup of the cranes. Furthermore, he provided technical input in case of MoC (management of change) for modifications in the final crane setup, rigging arrangement and lifting execution.

All activities have been completed in time, while maintaining maximum safety for all parties involved.
