Operating a mobile crane on a barge, pontoon or ship requires substantial additional action. And when you ask the manufacturer for a special load case, you will probably get the following answer: “This crane is not designed to operate on a barge or ship in an offshore environment“. The floating underground and the influence of swell and waves result in forces on the crane structure that were never considered by the crane manufacturer.
But what to do when you do have to operate a crane on a pontoon or ship?
The Eager.Academy can help you to get prepared! During one of our exclusive online masterclasses, we have presented the theory behind operating cranes on barges. We also covered the way to calculate your own special (offshore or near shore) load chart and some practical cases.
From this 2-hour masterclass, we have created a summary video with all highlights. This video will get you up-to-speed on this interesting and challenging subject. And above all, you can watch and learn in your own time. Enjoy watching!
