Lifting Beam SWL 1200 t x 6.5 m

A lifting beam is one of the below-the-hook lifting equipment types that Eager.one can design & construct. For this project the solution was found in the design of a lifting beam type design (bending beam). Here, the crane hook is fully integrated into the beam, resulting in an optimal lifting height set up.

Why you should choose for a Lifting Beam in this case

Our client, an expert in offshore windfarm foundation installations, was looking for a way to lift long monopiles with the limited available lifting height. The previously used method, a spreader beam with top rigging to the crane hook, resulted in a shortage of lifting height. The solution was found in the use of a lifting beam type design (bending beam). Here, the crane hook is fully integrated into the beam, resulting in an optimal lifting height set-up.

Load testing

An important requirement in the design of special below-the-hook lifting equipment is the ability to proper load test the new equipment. Next to that, load testing should be as cost-efficient as possible.

To be able to load test this new spreader beam, the beam was designed in a way that the spreader beam could be load tested in two independent load tests. As a result, existing load testing facilities could be used, instead of building a costly test set-up.

Eager.one designed this special SWL 1200 t x 6.5 m lifting beam with integrated hook connection, which was easy to load test in an existing load test facility.

With this optimized design, our customer was able to lift the required monopile lengths. Above all, the lift equipment was build, load tested and 3rd party certified at minimal cost.
