Joint Lifting Beam, a multifunctional design
The challenge was to design and deliver a smart modular joint lifting beam which accommodates the over-boarding and installation of different types of (subsea) cable joints with bend restrictors.
Multifunctional Design
Due to different lengths and bended shapes of various joints, the lifting beam needed to be designed in such a way that all possible load cases, rigging configurations, over-boarding and installation operations of our client could be covered. Furthermore the beam needed to have smart accessories and functionalities facilitating subsea remote ROV operations.
Besides design challenges, the project schedule was also very challenging for the delivery of a tested and certified beam within 8 weeks.
DNV GL standards
First of all, Eager.one has designed the beam with detailed calculations and drawings according to DNV GL standards. After review and approval by DNV GL the beam has been fabricated under survey of DNV GL. Directly after finishing the fabrication the beam has been load-tested extensively for all load cases under witnessing of DNV GL. Following the load-tests the beam has been coated with an offshore paint system. Finally, hydraulics and wooden fenders are attached and the beam is tested for functionality.
Within a very challenging schedule, Eager.one has delivered a turn-key project to a satisfied client.
